"Pupils have an extremely positive attitude toward learning; they say that they really enjoy their school work because teachers make learning exciting." (Ofsted 2015)

The Curriculum

At Northbrook Primary School we believe in educating the whole child according to his or her needs.  To this end we aim to deliver a rich and relevant curriculum that fulfils the requirements of the National Curriculum, which includes the following subjects:-

English (speaking and listening, reading and writing)

Mathematics (using and applying, number, shape, space and measure and handling data

Science (scientific enquiry, life processes and living things, materials and their properties and physical processes)

Design & Technology

Art and design

Modern Foreign Languages

Religious Education is also included in the curriculum alongside other subjects and  provision is also made for Personal, Social, Health & Citizenship Education

We follow Lancashire's planning which is a creative, topic based curriculum where different subjects are brought into the same teaching and learning focus.  This allows for an enriched learning experience for our pupils.  We also allocate specific days as designated curriculum enrichment days, which are set up on a whole school theme, allowing pupils to work in different classes and settings to experience new learning opportunities.

If you have any questions regarding the curriculum, please see your child's class teacher, who will be more than happy to explain further.
