School Meals

Our school is proud of having achieved the Healthy Eating Award within the Lancashire Healthy Schools Programme. We are very fortunate to have on-site catering facilities and staff and therefore high quality, fresh food is prepared daily. School meals are provided at a cost of £2.20 per day, or are provided free to those who have this entitlement. Currently all children in EYFS and KS1 are entitled to a free school meal. If you think your KS2 child might be entitled to free school meals please collect a form from the school office.

Snack-times

During morning break children are able to purchase wholemeal toast at a cost of 20p per slice. Money for this can be sent in daily or £1 can be sent per week in order that your child can have one slice per day.

In the KS2 department, classes 1, 2 and 3, children may purchase more than one slice.

In the Foundation Stage/KS2 department, classes 4 and 5, there is an alternative of a piece of fruit.

Free-fruit Scheme

Children in Foundation Stage and KS1 receive a piece of fruit every day which is funded by the governments' 5 a day scheme. This is usually eaten during afternoon playtime.

Milk

Milk is provided for Foundation Stage and KS1 everyday. Children who are entitled to free school meals are also entitled to free milk. Milk for everyone else is charged at £12 per term.

Children only have to pay for milk from the term in which they turn 5 therefore some reception children will not need to pay for some of the time. If you are not sure about how this affects your child please speak to Mrs Thomas, Mrs Porter or Mrs Boothby.

Water

Because of the health benefits of drinking water we encourage our children to bring water bottles to school so that they have access to water throughout the day. These bottles must be the ones provided by school. These are available from the school office at a cost of £1.30. The water inside these bottles must be plain, unflavoured water as this is the healthiest option for your child.
